I grew up in an extremely small town in the Berkshires called Clarksburg, MA. Growing up my family lived and died by sports, especially Boston sports. If we weren’t watching them we were playing them. I started being involved in athletics when I was 5 years old playing youth soccer and then later quickly took to basketball, and softball. This passion continued throughout high school where I was a varsity letter winner in basketball, soccer, tennis and track and was a captain in both basketball and tennis. I also participated in AAU basketball and Premiere soccer in the offseason.
After being physically active 12 months out of the year for the majority of my life, there were going to be some challenges when I entered my freshman year at Ithaca College in 2005. I knew that my activity level was going to decrease rapidly. Suddenly I didn’t have to go to practice six days a week and really had no commitment to anything. I quickly realized that I was going to have to use the discipline that sports had given me and direct it toward my own physical fitness. I then became an Exercise Science major at Ithaca which really gave me the hands on and classroom knowledge to not only improve my own level of physical fitness, but to use that knowledge to help others. It was a truly empowering experience.
Upon graduation I moved to my favorite city, Boston, and shortly after became a personal trainer in Cambridge. This is really where my love of exercise, nutrition and fitness grew exponentially. I really enjoy working with clients one-on-one and especially took an interest in training weight loss clients, pregnant women and athletes. I am looking forward to testing myself by taking on clients with different goals and different challenges. I am constantly reading and researching to find the best method to help each client improve every day. Hopefully I can do that for you!

Ever since winning the 800 meter race at a mandatory middle school track meet, I was hooked on running. Running for fun in high school, competitively in college, and then moving on to marathons and trail marathons solidified my identity as a runner. All of my friends and family thought of me as the crazy girl who spent hours and hours a week running for fun. A couple years after graduating from college with a degree in elemenary education, my knees started bothering me. I knew that I needed to scale back the running and learn to stay fit in other ways. The National Personal Training Institute in Portland, Oregon was my answer. I had just returned from teaching English in South Korea and knew that I didn't want to be an elementary teacher. Teaching was great, but the whole classroom management thing wasn't working for me. After an intensive six month, hands-on training program, I was a certified personal trainer through NPTI. My first job as a trainer was at LA fitness in Portland, Oregon. During my time there, I continued pursuing more education in the fitness world. I became a running coach and was working towards my RKC (Russian Kettlebell Challenge) certification. My kettlebell training was intense. In order to get this certification, I had to pass some tough strength tests. A month before this RKC test, my right foot went numb. The next day my left foot and both legs were numb. By the time I went to the ER, I was numb from the waist down and could barely walk. They diagnosed me with Guillain Barre syndrome, an auto-immune disease that attacks the nerves and often paralyzes people in a very short time. The next week was spent in the hospital receiving immunoglobulin therapy in order to slow the progression. By the time I left, I couldn't even raise my legs off the bed. Fortunately, I was strong to begin with and full recovery was possible. The last few months have been challenging as I learned to walk again. Exercise was really hard at first and I learned what it's like to start an exercise program from scratch. One of my former clients helped me to see how hard it can be to reach even small goals. We set a goal of walking up a hill. It was hard for both of us, but every day we went a little farther until one day, we made it! This experience has given me a much bigger passion for helping people who are struggling with their own health and fitness issues.

I was born and raised about 1 mile north of Boston in Everett, MA. Sports and fitness have been a passion of mine since I was a child. I had my first pair of skates tied on me at the age of 3 and never looked back. I played on numerous all-star teams and elite tournaments in the US and Canada throughout my childhood. I went to St. John’s Prep High School in Danvers, MA where I was freshman MVP, voted captain as a junior and twice selected all-star. After high school I spent 2 years in Vail, CO playing Jr. A hockey for the Vail Avalanche, also voted captain for my second season. I graduated college from Quinnipiac University in Hamden, CT with a BS in Management, and I was only 1 of 2 players in my class to complete all 4 years on the hockey team earning the Senior Award. It was after taking athletic training courses as electives that I realized that I would pursue a career in fitness. I became certified by the American Council on Exercise shortly after in May of 2002. Since then, I have taken correspondence courses in Lifestyle and Weight Management, Resistance Ball Training, Hockey, Baseball, and Football Conditioning, Kickboxing Fitness, Everlast Beginner Boxing, and Twist Conditioning Sport Core. I began my training career working at World’s Gym in Tewksbury and Bally Total Fitness in Medford. I then moved the focus of my training to be more sport specific, doing pre and post season training camps for Lesley University Softball (2003), St. John’s Prep HS Hockey (2003, 2004), Pope John HS Football (2004-present), Everett Huskies Pop Warner Football (2004-present), North Shore Hurricanes Hockey (2004, 2005), Walpole Express Jr, A Hockey (2006-present), Walpole HS and Youth Lacrosse (2006, 2007). It was then that I moved to National Fitness, a sports specific training facility in Walpole and became head of sports conditioning. After 7 months of working in this environment I became aware that I had made myself one dimensional and wanted to get the best of both worlds, so I made the move to Fitness Together were I could get the benefit of training clients in a one on one private setting and make a difference in peoples lives both physically and mentally. Using my knowledge of personal training, nutrition, and sports medicine coupled with being original, developing rapport and gaining trust with each client will produce ultimate results. Through positive reinforcement, my unique drive for 100% performance, and programs designed to be challenging, habit forming and life enhancing. I will elevate you to your highest level of achievement.

Growing up sports and fitness were always a huge part of my life. From an early age, all the way up in to my high school years, I played football, basketball, baseball, as well as martial arts. I was also exposed to bodybuilding at a very early age, because my father was an amateur bodybuilder . I instantly grew to love that sport and knew that it would always be a huge part of my life. I loved the challenges and personal sacrifice it took to excel at sports and bodybuilding. Shortly after I graduated high school, I wanted to further challenge myself as well as do something good for my country, so I joined the army as a Combat Medic. I served 4 years as an airborne combat medic in the Army, with a 15-month tour in Southern Baghdad. Throughout my 4 years in the army, physical fitness was enforced on us, and was rewarded when one would go far and beyond expectations. With my love for fitness I went far and beyond what was expected of me, receiving “excellent” marks in fitness which helped lead me to make rank quickly. Before long I was leading young soldiers in physical fitness programs myself. Upon completing my 4 years in the army, I knew I wanted to follow my heart and do what I’ve always loved and that was fitness. I attended NPTI (national personal training institute), and graduated with an even greater knowledge of health and fitness. I am excited and highly motivated to be doing what I love and that is help people achieve their physical fitness goals, as well as their goals in life. I will work hard for you so you can attain the goals you set out for! "I'm not telling you it is going to be easy - I'm telling you it's going to be worth it" -- Art Williams
