Josh Durbin

Owner

Josh Durbin, owner, has been a personal trainer since 2002. Josh has a degree in Exercise Science from Bowling Green State University and is currently certified by the National Strength and Conditioning Association. Prior to starting Fitness Together in Mount Pleasant, Josh was a personal trainer in a hospital based athletic club in Grand Blanc, Michigan. During his time there, Josh received tremendous satisfaction by helping his clients transform their bodies and their lives. Josh was also lucky enough to study boxing from Joe Byrd, brother of Chris Byrd (Former IBF heavyweight champion of the world) during his time in Michigan. This training enabled Josh to develop midsection strengthening programs that have produced unparalleled results in his clients.  In his personal time, Josh can be found spending time with his wife, Jennifer, and two kids, Alina and Cameron.

Jennifer Durbin

Co-Owner/Personal Trainer

Jennifer has been a personal trainer with Fitness Together since 2008.  She has a Bachelors Degree in Comminucations/Public Relations from Spring Hill College in Mobile, Alabama.  Prior to pursuing a career in health and fitness, Jennifer was a Pulic Relations Executive in the field of healthcare.  As a former client of Fitness Together, she brings a unique vantage point to the world of personal training, which enables her to better understand the difficulties and challenges clients experience on a daily basis on their quest for improved health and fitness.  Jennifer is an ACE certified personal trainer.  She is an avid runner, who enjoys participating in local competitive races.  In her personal time, she keeps busy as a mother of two small children, Alina and Cameron.

Jake Costner

Manager/Lead Trainer

Jake began working with Fitness Together in March of 2009. He received his degree in Corporate Fitness from University of South Carolina Upstate. While finishing his degree, Jake worked as an intern with a local heath club where he led and coordinated group exercise classes, such as boot camps and triathlon training. Prior to joining Fitness Together, Jake worked in a physical therapy clinic assisting patients of all ages with their acquisition of the details and importance of rehabilitation exercises. During this time, Jake gained valuable experience in helping patients appropriately recover from injury, as well as the mechanics of musculoskeletal injuries and how to avoid them in the future. An avid endurance athlete, Jake currently enjoys participating in road races and triathlons. He has an enormous passion for pushing himself and his clients to reach their personal health and fitness goals.

Ashley Stuhr

Personal Trainer - Flexibility Expert

Ashley has been with Fitness Together for one year.  She has a Masters Degree in History from Virginia Commonwealth University and holds a 500 hour yoga teacher certification.  She completed her Personal Training Certification through Fitness Together.  In an effort to remain injury free and felxible, Ashley works with clients to stretch and open the body.  Her specialty is combining workouts that incorporate fast paced, strength building exercises balanced with slower movements to release muscular tension.  In her own life, Ashley uses a combination of yoga, running, Pilates and weight training to stay healthy and feeling great.  When not at Fitness Together, she can be found spending time with her new baby girl, Abigayle, and husband, Johnny.  Ashley is also very passionate about healthy cooking and enjoys swapping recipes with clients.

Samantha "Sami" Hoover

Personal Trainer

Sami's interest in personal training began during her second year of college when she discovered Mixed Martial Arts and running.  What started as a hobby became a passion for Sami when she started to lose weight and gain confidence, and she wanted to help others achieve the same results.   Shortly after receiving a degree in percussive arts from Coastal Carolina University, Sami obtained her Personal Training certification and began training clients in southern Florida.  During this time, Sami worked at a community gym focusing on senior rehabilitative exercise.  In addition, Sami continued to train in Mixed Martial Arts and high intensity workouts while obtaining specialized certifications.  Currently, she is working towards a degree in Physical Therapy.

Valerie Kirkland

Personal Trainer

Valerie has a Masters Degree in Public Health and is certified in Personal Training and Group Fitness.  As a former Division 1 Track and Field Althete, Valerie has extensive knowledge of body mechanics, speed training and core strengthening exercises.  In addition to training at Fitness Together, Valerie started and runs Generation Healthy Kids, a non-profit organization focused on combating childhood obesity.  In her personal time, Valerie enjoys running and playing with her three year old son.

Cliff Renchen

Personal Trainer

Cliff has a BS in Exercise Sports Science from East Carolina State University and is an ACSM Health and Fitness Specialist.  In addition, Cliff is working on a Masters of Health and Exercise Science from The Citadel.  Cliff's passion for health and well-being, coupled with his experience working with a large spectrum of clients makes him an ideal trainer for assisting each individual in reaching his/her personal fitness goals.  Cliff utilizes several modalities of training, including a mix of bootcamp and high intensity workouts to produce the most optimal results.  Cliff has experience training athletes, cross country cyclists, marathon runners, sprinters and trialthletes. In his personal life, Cliff has participated in several marathons, triathlons and tough mudders.
