After 6 Weeks at FT

Hello, my name is Larissa.  Six weeks ago I decided that I needed to make a change in my life.  I was tired all of the time, and had a very limited amount of energy in my down time.  It broke my heart that I felt this way, particularly around my family.  This caused me to be stressed out all of the time, and I decided that rather than sit around and be miserable all of the time, I could go out and do something to try and change things.

When I started with Fitness Together, I had a few goals that I wanted to focus on.  I wasn’t so concerned with how much weight I wanted to lose, although that was one of my goals.  I was more concerned with getting back in shape and feeling better about myself.  I wanted to make changes that would help create a healthier lifestyle.  And I wanted to make sure that these changes weren’t going to be a temporary solution to a perceived problem; I wanted to make sure that I could start a sustainable lifetime change.

The program wasn’t without its challenges, though.  Drastic changes in life are never easy, and this was no exception.  It started with changing how I ate, and the dedication to following a healthy eating plan to help maximize my workouts.  Although I had some initial resistance, I’m proud of my accomplishment in making this change.  The next challenge, of course, was the workout itself.  There were days when I just didn’t want to get up to go to work, days when they kicked my butt.  But there are very few worthwhile things in life that come easy, and so each day I dedicated myself to doing my best.  It also helped that I had a huge amount of support from my loved ones.

And now, six weeks later, I feel proud about where I’m at and what I’ve accomplished.  I have lost over twelve pounds in the last six weeks, and I’m much happier now.  I fit into clothes that had made their way to the back of the closet, seemingly lost forever.  I also have a much more positive outlook now.  I have more energy during the day, and I’m tired when I’m supposed to be tired, instead of feeling rundown all of the time.  I cannot say enough about the staff here at Fitness Together! Their dedication and support in helping me reach my goals has continued to keep me on track to the person I know I can be!

Kaye Gilchrist

Kaye was able to lose an astounding 31 pounds, increase her pushups from 10 to 20, increase her lower back/hamstring flexibility by 4 inches, decrease her blood pressure from 138/85 to 104/69, decrease her waist by 3.25 inches, and decrease her hips by 6 inches. Kaye says, "The wonderful thing is that Jolene and Todd and all at FT believe in you even when you may not believe in yourself. Their enthusiasm is catching and before you know it, improvements are occurring not only in your body image, but also in your attitude".

Shelby Jorgensen

Shelby came to us in early July 2009 looking to lose weight and tone up (sound familiar?).  She had been watching her diet for 6 months before starting with Fitness Together, but had plateued and knew it was time to add an exercise regimen to her plan.  

After just 6 short weeks with Fitness Together, Shelby broke through her weight loss plateau and improved in all aspects of her overall fitness.  She  lost 8.5 lbs., 2.5 inches off of her waist, and 2.5% bodyfat.  She improved her resting heart rate by 15%, her recovery heart rate by 28%, her muscular strength by 35%, and her flexibility by 15%.  Since her first 6 weeks, Shelby has continued to see even greater progress, and continues to train 2 times per week with Fitness Together. 

Shelby says, "I feel better now than I have ever felt.  This is the lowest my weight has been in 25 years.  I know I wouldn't do this on my own!" 

Rick Gilchrist

Rick dropped 15 pounds and 5% bodyfat, decreased his resting heart rate by 13 beats and his recovery heart rate by 46 beats, increased his pushups from 10 to 20, increased his flexibility by 3.75 inches, lost 3.25 inches off his waist, and 4.5 inches off his hips. Rick says, "We joke about Jolene trying to "kill us" and "surviving" our workout sessions, but in truth, she has a program worked out for us that is continually challenging and has proven to be beneficial. Best of all is her positive attitude and "cheerleader" role".

Marc and Kimberlee Johnson

Marc and Kimberlee Johnson

Marc and Kimberlee Johnson started working out at Fitness Together in early September with the goal of improving their overall health, increasing energy, increasing their body tone, and making exercise a part of their daily routine. If their first 6 weeks are any indication, they are well on their way...and then some! Kimberlee says that she, "Loves it!" and the "Having a trainer to keep me accountable is awesome!". She decreased her bodyfat by nearly 2%, was able to gain 4.5 pounds on lean muscle, lose 1.5 pounds of bodyfat, decrease her resting heart rate by 7 beats per minute, and she can now do 30 pushups. Marc says that training at Fitness Together is, "The best thing I've done in a long time. A little bit of effort goes a long way. Todd and all of the FT trainers are professional, motivating, and best of all, they make it FUN!". Marc lost nearly 7 pounds, lost 2.2% bodyfat, decreased his resting heart rate an AMAZING 18 beats per minute, decreased his recovery heart rate by 29 beats per minute, and increased his bench press by 91%.

Cindy Walker

Cindy has been committed to her Fitness Together program for over 2 years now, and works out with us 3 times per week when she is in town.  Although she travels extensively, she has learned to stay on track even when she is out of town (does that sound like an issue for anyone reading this). 

The proof is in the pudding (sugar free of course)!  Cindy has lost 30 lbs., lost 15% bodyfat, decreased resting heart rate by 19 beats per minute, improved by 200% in muscular strength, improved her sit and reach (flexibility test) by 7.5 inches (helping with low back pain), and...get this ladies, 5 inches off both her waist and hips.  She has gone from a tight size 12 to a comfortable size 6.

Jeff Walker

Jeff has been working with us 2 times per week for over 11 months.  

He has done a tremendous job by losing 20 lbs. of bodyfat, decreasing his resting heart rate to an amazing 51 beats per minute, increasing his bench press by 53%, and decreasing his waist by 3 inches.
