Lyndsey
Trainer
My love for the world of fitness started at a very young age. I have been on the other side of the spectrum, being the trainee instead of the trainer, and I know the importance of accountability and companionship and the dramatic increase in success they can bring you.
Considering the fact that each person is different, different in their daily activities, different in their health history, and different in their goals, it is imperative for success in reaching your goals that I cater to creating programs that address functional capacity, and that I design a safe program that takes into account your environment and the tasks you perform. I like to work as a 2 person team with my clients.
I am there to teach and motivate, but I am also there to listen- Listen to where you've been and where you're going so that we can get to your goals no matter what they are, together!
Lyndsey has a B.S. in Molecular Cellular and Developmental Biology from the University of Washington and is actively pursuing an M.S. in Excercise Movement from the University of Arizona.
Paul
Trainer
Fitness became an integral part of my life ever since I played sports as a little kid. I played football, baseball, and even tried some track and field. The drive to become a better athlete was one aspect that convinced me to learn more about the human body.
As I got older I thought it was amazing that I could study about the human body to the point where I could actually see results by changing my diet and exercise routine. With this epiphany, I was eager to share my knowledge to help people achieve their own fitness and health goals.
My approach to training is about challenging the client at the perfect intensity. That means finding exercises that are physically and mentally challenging. When I train clients I want them to be focused on the exercises for that 45 minute session and ignore all the other stresses in their life.
At Fitness Together the environment is nonthreatening so that the client doesn't feel like they are being watched by other club members during their workout. This makes for a truly one on one training session where you can forget about everything except your own workout.
Paul has a B.S. in Exercise Physiology from Oregon State University and has also obtained a CSCS certification from the National Strength and Conditioning Association. He brings two years experiece as a Functional Rehabilitation Exercise Specialist in a physical therapy setting as a benefit to the clients of FT Mercer Island.
Juliana
Trainer
Having always been an athlete and an outdoor enthusiast, I have maintained a lifelong fascination with health and the human body. My years swimming, horseback riding, running track, playing volleyball, soccer, and tennis gave me a thorough understanding of the basic training principles required for many sports.
Upon entering college I became increasingly interested in the personal training and physical therapy fields and decided to pursue a degree in Exercise Science. During my college years and after graduating I worked as a coach for a local high school and personal trainer for a local gym. After about a year of this I decided that I needed a change and moved to California to play beach volleyball and train. Physical therapy continued to fascinate me and after a few years I began taking steps to apply to graduate programs in the Pacific Northwest, bringing me to Seattle!
Personal training in the private studio setting of Fitness Together has been by far the most rewarding training experience I have had. There is nothing better than guiding a client along the long, challenging road towards his or her goals. As a trainer I stand to learn as much from every person I work with as they stand to learn from me, one of the reasons I love my clients and my job!
Juliana has a B.S. in Exercise Science from the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque.
Jim
Lead Trainer
I've been a personal trainer with Fitness Together since 2004 and am a firm believer that the FT model of "1 Client, 1 Trainer, 1 Goal" is the best and most effective way to achieve results.
The client's entire experience in the Studio is always on my mind. Not only am I dedicated to helping clients achieve and maintain a healthy lifestyle, but I enjoy helping them enjoy and take ownership of the process.
Jim has a B.A. in Geography from the University of California, Berkley, CA and holds a 1st class National Federation of Professional Trainers certification. He also spent 10 years as a Tennis Professional after his official competitive days were done. Jim's current passion is his wife, son, and golf! As the Lead trainer Jim helps with internal trainer development and ensuring that the clients' experience is always improving.

Ananda
Owner
My name is Ananda Gellock and I'm the owner of Fitness Together Seattle & Mercer Island. I'm really glad you are checking out our web site, because this means that you are ready to make a change, and we are expert at taking people who are ready to change, but not sure how, and getting them started (the hardest part of any exercise program)!
What is your reason?
Almost five years ago I received my reality check reason in the form of vacation photos...
My childhood and early teens were spent as a competitive gymnast, physique & health were a constant priority. In late teens being a high school cheerleader and coaching gymnastics continued that positive momentum. Then in my 20's I became a constant fixture at the local gym, hitting it on my way to work and participating in fun runs - for fun! By my late 20's all free time was spent building my career instead of my biceps, being wined & dined by my future husband (we both gained 5 - 10 pounds over that time), trimmed up for my wedding day, and then... kinda forgot about my body. Sure I would do yoga, or get on the treadmill here and there but I got completely wrapped up in getting pregnant, having our first child, and adjusting to the new life we created.
I got some vacation pictures back and stared in disbelief. Who was this chubby girl looking back at me? I honestly had not realized that all of that sacrificing "me" time to focus on the family had left me more than 15 lbs over weight. Besides the whole vanity thing I had low energy unless highly caffeinated, often felt irritable, and my feelings were even interfering with my relationship - I just didn't feel sexy anymore.
I made a decision, got started, and although it wasn't easy I felt improved after only 2 weeks! Steadily fat melted and toned muscle appeared, and as this happened I was encouraged and started eating more healthfully. A little moderation went a long way, and without ever depriving myself (I will never stop eating chocolate!) I soon was able to reach my initial fitness goal - finally reaching my pre-baby weight. It was the shortest 3 months of my life! If only I had known that was all it would take I would have certainly started sooner.
Today I'm busy with two girls, my husband, other family and friend commitments, and work too - but each week I make the decision to take care of myself first so I have something to offer those around me. Making the decision to make my health, my body, and my mind a priority has had an awesome effect. I heard a wise person once say that "when you climb a mountain, you never regret getting to the top." To me exercising 4 days a week is very much the same. I promise that you'll never regret the workout when you are done, and you certainly will never regret the results when you have committed to 3 months.
Every person's reason to make a change is unique to them. We understand. Whatever your reason is, we look forward to getting to know you and your reasons, so we can help you start achieving your results. Start your results today by calling us at 206.275.1313!
