Lyn Ortiz

Director of Operations
Certified Personal Trainer
Certified Holistic Health Counselor

“Results!” If you were to ask Lynn Ortiz what she and Fitness Together can offer a client, that would be her answer. It comes from her belief in their approach to fitness as well as her own personal experience.

“I came to Fitness Together in 2008 and lost 45 pounds as well as half my body fat! The impact that Fitness Together had on my life instilled the passion in me to pursue this work.”

Lynn made a huge decision to change careers and began working with Fitness Together in early 2010, becoming an Aerobics and Fitness Association of America (AAFA) Certified Personal Trainer. She is also a Fitness Together Nutrition Specialist and is a Certified Holistic Health Counselor.

Born and raised in the D.C. metropolitan area, Lynn graduated from JFK High School in Silver Spring Maryland and University of Maryland in College Park, Maryland. Her new career in personal fitness is far removed from the 30 years she spent in the corporate consulting world. Most recently, she worked for an IT consulting firm, Perot Systems, in various operational leadership positions. Lynn “retired” in June 2010 to begin working in fitness and nutrition.

Her background and experience have not gone to waste, however. In addition to training, she also serves as the Director of Operations at Fitness Together.

Lynn describes the Fitness Together approach as offering clients a one-of-a-kind private studio, not a huge intimidating gym.

“We offer a comfortable, private setting,” she says, “and while there is a science to all we do, we take that science and create programs that are designed for the specific needs of our clients.

“We are dedicated exclusively to helping you achieve your goals during the exclusive one-on-one personal training sessions,” Lynn states. “It's just you and one of our certified personal trainers with no distractions to interrupt or interfere with your progress.

“At Fitness Together, we produce results from one simple formula: one client, one trainer and one goal. We like to say we sell accountability. There’s no question you'll get results.”

When she’s not focusing on fitness and nutrition, Lynn enjoys spending time at home with her husband, Dennis. They have one grown daughter and two grandchildren. Her other interests include her cats, cooking and reading.

Mike Fleck

NASM Certified Personal Trainer
Manager

Fitness was certainly not something I ever thought I would feel passionate about. In fact, I thought it was more of a social environment and filled with stereotypes that did not appeal to me. Seeing Body for Life on the NY bestselling list for months and months kind of drew me in. My first time in a gym, I felt overwhelmed with a bit of anxiety about what to do. I did not like what I saw in the mirror every day so I knew I had to do something about it. My self confidence was stuck on zero. I did the Body for Life challenge to the letter and went from 125lbs to a whopping 134lbs in 12 weeks. My confidence soared until I stopped seeing results. I almost gave up but a trainer popped out of the woodwork and suggested I educate myself because one school of thought is not the ultimate solution. I read everything I got my hands on, but I had more questions than answers. Eventually I just forced myself to train hard, keep changing my work outs, and eat till I puked (literally), and had adequate rest. I just learned to listen to my body. I made myself accountable. I trained on days when I did not feel like it. I stopped making excuses and stopped putting off my goal. I can say with utmost honesty if I can do it, you can do it. That is where my passion came from. It comes from within.

One day, someone I did not know randomly asked me if I was a personal trainer. A bell went off. I dropped everything I was doing at the time to get certified. The thought of making a career out of something I was passionate about never crossed my mind. It is one of the best moves I have ever made. The fitness industry is a crucial part of our society. Preventative health and overall fitness is keeping us from getting sick. We also learn to make better choices for what we put in our body. Do you live to eat or eat to live?

My training style revolves around YOUR goals. I do not want to be the guy standing there with a chart saying "do this, do that, 1, 2, 3." I want you to actually feel like I am there to help you on your journey. It takes help to stand alone. I build programs that are effective, easy to follow, and ‘some’ may think are fun because I add variety. Working out and eating right is certainly not an easy task but it’s not impossible either. With the proper motivation and self-discipline a more fitness conscience lifestyle will be ingrained in you. You truly can achieve any body you want. You are going to experience days that you feel amazing and proud of yourself and you will have days where you will feel down too. So how do you recover from the bad days? Hello, my name is Mike.

Chris Hilbig

NPTI, Certified Personal Trainer

I grew up right here in Fairfax and never expected my passion to be in fitness. I was living a sedentary lifestyle and was more focused on my artwork than anything else.  It took the power of honesty from a close friend saying “you’re getting fat” for me to even contemplate starting an exercise program.  It was what I needed to take the first step to leading a healthy lifestyle and now I want to help others.

I recently graduated from NPTI (National Personal Training Institute), and have been in the fitness industry for over 2 years. I find true joy in helping people break through the boundaries and limitations they place on themselves and each week seeing them make improvements in their energy, strength, stamina and flexibility….just like I did.

Morgan McEvilly

After working as a support provider, Morgan decided to obtain a personal training certification to integrate fitness into the lives of persons with disabilities through the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA).

In the past two years Morgan has lived on two West Coasts. The Pacific

Northwest, working on a Native American reservation and with AmeriCorps in the West of Ireland. Now back in her home territory of Northern Virginia, she is rejoining the fitness world in a professional sense.

Yusuf Yasin

Personal Trainer
Kettlebell Athletics Certified-Level 1

Yusuf’s passion for personal training is driven by his personal story.   In his teenage years, Yusuf was dramatically overweight.  He recognized that his lack of physical exercise coupled with his poor eating habits contributed to his unhealthy condition.  Yusuf began his journey to get healthy by learning how to box.  As he began to drop weight he also modified his eating habits which often consisted of fast foods.  He also began to work out consistently.

It was difficult to miss the enormous change in Yusuf because during an 18 month period he lost over 100 pounds!  He has kept this weight off for 2 years.  Friends and family encouraged Yusuf to pursue a career in fitness because of the impact it had on his life and he began to take courses in this field.

In addition to his personal story, Yusuf has a strong passion for assisting others meet their wellness goals.  He continues to enjoy competitive boxing and has recently added Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (a form of martial arts) to his hobbies.

Yusuf received his Level 1 Kettlebell Athletics certification in 2011 and expects to receive his National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) Certified Personal Trainer (CPT) certification in June 2012.
