Mike Fleck

NASM Certified Personal Trainer
Manager

Fitness was certainly not something I ever thought I would feel passionate about. In fact, I thought it was more of a social environment and filled with stereotypes that did not appeal to me. Seeing Body for Life on the NY bestselling list for months and months kind of drew me in. My first time in a gym, I felt overwhelmed with a bit of anxiety about what to do. I did not like what I saw in the mirror every day so I knew I had to do something about it. My self confidence was stuck on zero. I did the Body for Life challenge to the letter and went from 125lbs to a whopping 134lbs in 12 weeks. My confidence soared until I stopped seeing results. I almost gave up but a trainer popped out of the woodwork and suggested I educate myself because one school of thought is not the ultimate solution. I read everything I got my hands on, but I had more questions than answers. Eventually I just forced myself to train hard, keep changing my work outs, and eat till I puked (literally), and had adequate rest. I just learned to listen to my body. I made myself accountable. I trained on days when I did not feel like it. I stopped making excuses and stopped putting off my goal. I can say with utmost honesty if I can do it, you can do it. That is where my passion came from. It comes from within.

One day, someone I did not know randomly asked me if I was a personal trainer. A bell went off. I dropped everything I was doing at the time to get certified. The thought of making a career out of something I was passionate about never crossed my mind. It is one of the best moves I have ever made. The fitness industry is a crucial part of our society. Preventative health and overall fitness is keeping us from getting sick. We also learn to make better choices for what we put in our body. Do you live to eat or eat to live?

My training style revolves around YOUR goals. I do not want to be the guy standing there with a chart saying "do this, do that, 1, 2, 3." I want you to actually feel like I am there to help you on your journey. It takes help to stand alone. I build programs that are effective, easy to follow, and ‘some’ may think are fun because I add variety. Working out and eating right is certainly not an easy task but it’s not impossible either. With the proper motivation and self-discipline a more fitness conscience lifestyle will be ingrained in you. You truly can achieve any body you want. You are going to experience days that you feel amazing and proud of yourself and you will have days where you will feel down too. So how do you recover from the bad days? Hello, my name is Mike.

Chris Hilbig

NPTI, Certified Personal Trainer

I grew up right here in Fairfax and never expected my passion to be in fitness. I was living a sedentary lifestyle and was more focused on my artwork than anything else.  It took the power of honesty from a close friend saying “you’re getting fat” for me to even contemplate starting an exercise program.  It was what I needed to take the first step to leading a healthy lifestyle and now I want to help others.

I recently graduated from NPTI (National Personal Training Institute), and have been in the fitness industry for over 2 years. I find true joy in helping people break through the boundaries and limitations they place on themselves and each week seeing them make improvements in their energy, strength, stamina and flexibility….just like I did.

Yusuf Yasin

Personal Trainer

Yusuf’s passion for personal training is driven by his personal story.   In his teenage years, Yusuf was dramatically overweight.  He recognized that his lack of physical exercise coupled with his poor eating habits contributed to his unhealthy condition.  Yusuf began his journey to get healthy by learning how to box.  As he began to drop weight he also modified his eating habits which often consisted of fast foods.  He also began to work out consistently.

It was difficult to miss the enormous change in Yusuf because during an 18 month period he lost over 100 pounds!  He has kept this weight off for 2 years.  Friends and family encouraged Yusuf to pursue a career in fitness because of the impact it had on his life and he began to take courses in this field.

In addition to his personal story, Yusuf has a strong passion for assisting others meet their wellness goals.  He continues to enjoy competitive boxing and has recently added Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (a form of martial arts) to his hobbies.

Yusuf expects to receive his National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) Certified Personal Trainer (CPT) certification in October 2011.

Sherry Nicely

Owner, NASM Certified Personal Trainer

After spending over 15 years working as Government Sub-Contractor Accounting Manager and never feeling fulfilled I realized it was time for a change and decided to pursue my passion for fitness. I’ve always been physically active and considered working out to be my “sport”. After sitting behind a desk for over 9 hours a day I knew firsthand how proper health and nutrition made a positive effect on my life. I want to share this with others so they too could achieve their own personal health, fitness and nutrition goals. To take my personal health and fitness to the next level I started training for a natural, drug free figure competition and competed in my first show in November 2009 and have 2 competitions planned for 2010! Becoming a Certified Personal Trainer has enabled me to share my passion with others and help them realize their fitness goals.
