Bathroom Scale Dance

Every morning when you wake up, do you do a dance with your bathroom scale? You know the dance, right? You tap the scale and step on board and blink you eyes a few times as you stare back at the number in front of you. You casually step off the scale, scoot it over a tile or two and step right back on again. Much to your surprise the number is the same (as if moving it over a few inches was going to magically change it). You may even lean forward, backward or side to side, hoping for a slightly lower number to flash before your eyes. Sound familiar?
Ladies and gentlemen, ditch that dance partner. I say get rid of your bathroom scale! Our weight can fluctuate several pounds each day. Often that daily weigh in can lead to negative thoughts. Those negative thoughts can then lead to making poor food choices. Instead of starting off the day with a toe tap scale shuffle, judge your progress in other ways.
For example, are your clothes fitting better? Do you have more energy? Do you sleep better at night or have less stress? All of these things are benefits from a healthy nutrition plan and regular exercise program and are a much better measures of success.
