Deron Lindquist
Owner/Personal Trainer
Hi, my name is Deron Lindquist. I am the owner of Fitness Together – Edina and Fitness Together – Wayzata. Edina was the first Fitness Together studio in the Minneapolis/St Paul area opening in November 1998. Wayzata, the second studio then was opened in November 2002. My passion involves fitness, especially strength training to live a better quality of life. The benefits from strength training go way beyond the physical aspect but also the psychological benefits of day to day life. Watching “Rocky” movies when I was a kid made me feel like I wanted to be in the best possible shape and that the training or working-out was almost more important than the actual event or motivation for working-out. I graduated from Nebraska Wesleyan University in 1991 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration. Wanting to start a career in the fitness world, I moved from Nebraska to Phoenix, Arizona. There I worked with clients from all ages and also got an associate degree in Exercise Science from Glendale College in Arizona. I worked almost six years in the Phoenix/Scottsdale, AZ area as a Personal Trainer. Thanks to the opportunity of Rick Sikorski, founder of the Fitness Together franchise model, I had the chance to own and operate my own studio. So this takes me to the state of Minnesota to fulfill a long time goal of owning and operating a business model that I truly have a passion towards.
Steve Johnson
Personal Trainer
My name is Steve Johnson. Exercise and fitness has played a major role in my life going back to elementary school. It all started with a trip I took to Chicago, where I would spend the summer with my cousin. The usual activities were in line for grade school age boys, little league baseball, summer camp, miniature golf, etc. However, I believe it was the night my uncle took us to go see “Conan the Barbarian”, starring Arnold Schwarzenegger. I went home that night and performed what seemed like 1000 push-ups and sit-ups. I was sore for days! That created a fascination in exercise and fitness which later propelled me into a high school sports career competing in football, baseball, track and wrestling. I later moved on to play football at Fork Union Military Academy with future Heisman and NFL great Eddie George. I continued my football career at James Madison University, where I received my Bachelors of Science degree in Kinesiology and Exercise Science. Over the years of working at Fitness Together, I’ve worked with hundreds of clients each with their own unique set of goals and abilities. I’ve worked with adolescence as young as 10 and adults well into their 80’s with goals ranging from fat loss, increased muscle mass, general fitness or just maintaining strength and coordination, as with one client I trained with cerebral palsy. Having worked with such a vast pool of clientele, I feel I’m able to draw upon a wealth of knowledge and experience to help you achieve your fitness goals.
Heather Lindholm
Personal Trainer
My name is Heather Lindholm. My parents raised me and my brothers to believe we could do anything we wanted in life, and succeed if we were determined enough. They encouraged us to try every and any sport we wanted. I tried out track & field, soccer, and gymnastics. Having older brothers and living in a neighborhood with only one other girl, I was pretty much a tomboy. I played baseball in the front yard, basketball in the driveway, and climbed just about every tree in sight. We were always outside and the dinner bell was what got us home most nights. When I hit twelve I took some dance classes and loved it, so I stuck with it. For the last five years my husband and I have played in a recreational volleyball league every summer and fall and also enjoy fishing year round. I graduated from The Minnesota School of Business Globe College in Health and Exercise Science, and have been training for the last four years. When training any age, youths to seniors my focus is always on balance and injury prevention.

Johann Jack
Personal Trainer
Johann Jack is a United States Marine veteran, Olympic Caliber Athlete, former Team USA athlete and US Paralympics Team guide athlete, born in the Caribbean. He holds multiple certifications in the fitness professional field, and is a well-traveled model and speaker. In his early career, Mr. Jack received the Boston Globe and Boston Herald All-Scholastic athlete award, holding multiple records and numerous titles in New England, and the Intercollegiate Association of Amateur Athletes of America.
In recognition of his athletic accomplishments for Trinidad and Tobago, the International Amateur Athletic Federation documented his forte since 1999 and earned a spot in history as one of the fastest men in the world, running 100 meters in 10 seconds. During his subsequent years of education, his passion for athletics was complimented with a Bachelors Degree from the School of Arts and Science at Boston University where he was selected as the team Captain, Indoor Track Team; Captain, Outdoor Track Team from 1996 to 1999. As a Full Scholarship Athlete from 1994 to 1999, he was awarded the John B. Simpson Award-Enthusiastic Senior Leadership in 1998 and MVP representing the University's Men’s Track from 1997 to 1999.
Honing his talent, the United States Olympic Training Center in Chula Vista California with conjunction of the Military’s National Caliber Athlete program, organized a training and educational regiment that was unmatched. The key to Johann’s physiological success is his uncanny reaction time, re-discovered by Pete Schuder (Boston University Head Coach, retired) since 1994. The technical improvements made by coach Anthony "Tonie" Campbell (former US Olympian, Head Coach USATF High Performance) in 2006 enhanced the central sprinting technique in maximizing fast twitch fibers (for speed) and slow twitch (for endurance) after his professional debut in the professional European Circuit. Johann's training technique modification was described by Dr. Stacy Ingraham, Ph.D., lecturer in Kinesiology, as highly original and significant, virtually utilizing muscle tissue into the two epochs of sprints and long distance running.
Mr. Jack's fitness education was complimented from the Marines Corps Engineering School. His endurance fitness, strength and conditioning training certificates were obtained from the federally recognized International Sports Science Association. During his active tour of duty, Mr. Jack received the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal from 2003 to 2007, the National Defense Service Medal from 2003 to 2007, Certificate of Appreciation in August 2007, Good Conduct Certificate August from 2003 to 2007, and the Achievement of Endurance Certificate in May 2004. Mr. Jack highlighted his education with a Masters Degree in the field of Education, Sports Science and Sports Management within Kinesiology from the University of Minnesota, a world renowned premier research University.
After securing spots for the World Games in 2006 Rio DeJinero, and the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, Mr. Jack continues to compliment his achievements by winning the 2010 Mid American Masters, North Region Open and the USATF MN Open Masters in his age group, Johann has been diversifying his talents using business acumen, personal experience, research and technology to enhance the artistry of gracefully combining the athletes talents, hard work and passion for their desired sport, towards a mutual beneficial success.
Steve Born
Personal Trainer
My name is Steve Born. I have been a Personal Trainer for ten years, eight of those here at Fitness Together. My interest in working out started back in the eighth grade. Like a lot of kids I wanted to get bigger, stronger and faster for the sports I played. So I convinced my parents to buy me a bench, a bar, some weights and I was off and running! I played two sports up through the high school level but that was as far as my skill was going to take me. After high school I started competitive weight lifting. It was great way to keep me focused on my work out program. I still compete today. Along the way I realized that I wasn’t just working out for the sports, it was because I enjoyed it! I decided that I would like to pursue personal training and help others with their health and fitness goals. Many years later and I still truly enjoy helping people of all ages and fitness levels with their exercise programs.
