Personal Training Success Stories

See - it works! But it does take some time. Don't give up.

While I have been thrilled with the exterior changes in my body since I've been working out with you, I wondered how much had changed on the inside.  I thought I'd share.

I joined FT based on my doctor's admonishments in October 2008 to lose weight and start exercise.  At that exam, my blood pressure was up, my cholesterol was barely within limits, my triglycerides were high, and my weight was in the obese range.

My doctor could hardly believe her eyes when she saw me this year.  She was very excited that I'd taken 50 lbs. off, and my blood pressure was well within normal limits.  Last Monday I went back in to go over the results of my blood work.

Last year, my cholesterol level was 198.  This year it was 176, including a 15 point drop in LDL. Last year, my triglyceride level was 164.  This year it was 123. My glucose and sodium levels were in the optimum range. Even my Vitamin D level was good, and she said almost everyone is low on that.

She was very, very happy with me, and said what I had accomplished was a difficult thing to do.

I want to thank all of you for helping me make such huge changes in my fitness and health.  I look a lot better, I feel a lot better, and now I know I am a lot better.

Lynn was our July 2009 Client of the Month, here is an an unsolicitied update.  An interesting note that she does have asthema so her cardio is limited.  I believe her success is due to the fact that she is has become a healthy eater andconsistently  trains with a variety of trainers at Fitness Together e three times a week for over a year .  She works very hard in her sessions when her asthema allows.  This of course has been a big time and financial investment - but I think you can see that she thinks it is worth it!

I started at Fitness Together in October. While I was doing cardio on my own most days of the week, I found it just was not enough. I have been physically active all my life, but as I have gotten older, work and family obligations, in addition to injuries, have impacted my workouts. I know I needed to change my routine, but I needed assistance with those changes.

Fitness Together has provided me with new inspiration. I look forward to coming in and working out with all the trainers. Each trainer has a different style and provides me with unlimited challenges and new ideas. I feel the trainers pay a lot attention to detail and they are able to tweak an exercise to my abilities. The diversity of each trainer keeps me from getting bored and continues to challenge me.

While I can go out and run a 5K race with no issues, I was not able to do 3 push ups. Now I can do between 10 and 15 regular pushups. In addition, to improving my strength, Wendy reviewed my food journal and was able to offer me suggestions to improve my diet.  With these changes and my latest new year's resolution, I look forward to a healthier and stronger new year with the help and support of the Fitness Together Team.

Novmember 2009 Client of the Month

I started training with Fitness Together at the end of August and have been impressed by the support, functional knowledge and care I received from the training team.  Working with each of the trainer's has allowed me to experience a multitude of training styles and exercises I never knew existed-not and keeps me interested. 
As a former athlete, my exercise regiment was intense and I used to do it on my own.  Now that I am older, I have come to realize that I need accountability and motivation, so where better to get it than from a personal trainer!  I was surprised to find out that personal training is so much different than what I was used to doing when I was younger.  I have come to have a deep respect for what this team does and what they have done for me so far.

My successes have come from using the whole FT team as a resource.  I listen to them and use their guidance to help me change old habits including my diet and my activity levels on my off days. It isn't easy but I have learned a lot and it is becoming more and more natural to me.  Just increasing my training sessions from two times a week to three times a week alone, made vast improvements in my progress.   
Although I still have more work to do, I have come a long way.  When your children and co-workers are telling you how good you are looking and how much you have changed, you know the hard work is paying off!  Thank you Fitness Together for whipping me back into shape!

In 12 weeks Sonia lost 13.8 lbs. and  3.2% body fat

"I started training at Fitness Together in April 2009.  I was training on my own and felt that I was at plateau.  I definitely needed a change in my routine.  I was referred by a close friend and was glad I made that call to setup an initial consultation.

The Fitness Together staff is so helpful and supportive.  I immediately was given guidance regarding nutrition and suggestions on how to change my exercise routine.  From the start, I felt welcomed and felt that the trainers were there to support me in every possible way.

After several weeks of training, I began to see results.  Family and friends could also see the difference. August 2009 Client of Month

" The Relaunch of My Life."

I started working out with Fitness Together August 1st. The goal is simple to lose at least 40 pounds. I started at 233 pounds in late July. As of the writing of this blog (August 27th) I'm down to 217. I cut four inches off my waist and hips...thanks in part to FT Owner and band of trainers. All are a little crazy by my standards. But they treat me with respect and allow me to workout at my pace to reach that ultimate goal.

So why start this relaunch you might ask? Simple to see my kids grow strong and become healthy members of the global community. Before working out at FT, I was dealing with High Blood Pressure (not the best thing to deal with in this industry). For years my wife wanted me to get back to working more than just the once a week playing pick up basketball in which my 15 year old son would handle me with kid gloves. (Thanks Myck for that)

One month down 5 more to go before I will reach my goal. PERIOD

 Congratulations to Lynn C. on her continuing health and fitness successes! By stream lining her nutrition and consistently working with our Fitness Specialists 3 times per week, Lynn is seeing fantastic results.

"I joined Fitness Together in November 2008 on orders from my doctor to lose some weight and get into an exercise regimen. I didn't feel fit enough to join a class, and I knew I didn't have the self discipline to make myself go to the gym. Fitness Together was the perfect solution. For 45 minutes, three times a week, it's all about me and how much I can accomplish. I enjoy working with all of the trainers, especially Andrea. They're very good at pushing me, while ensuring I'm using correct form and not causing myself injury. The result has been the loss of significant inches and pounds, as well as a dramatic improvement in my fitness level. There's just one problem-nothing I own fits anymore. But as problems go, that's not a bad one to have. Thanks Fitness Together!"

THE MAY 2009 FITNESS TOGETHER CHANTILLY BIGGEST LOSER COMPETITION WINNER

In the past 16 weeks, Amy has lost over 40 pounds thanks to the Fitness Together program! During the 8-week Biggest Loser competition, Amy's dedication to her health and fitness resulted in an amazing loss of 18.9 pounds and 1.3% decrease in bodyfat. As the winner of the Biggest Loser Competition, Amy has won 6 additional FREE sessions to continue her total body transformation. We are proud of Amy and inspired by her hard work. April 2009 Client of Month

Bill and Val have been with Fitness Together since January of 2009. They are a hardworking and dedicated husband and wife team. What has made them successful is: 1) They are very consistent in attending their scheduled training sessions, 2) They come to the FT studio on their off days for extra cardio, 3) they keep a food journal that is reviewed by the FT Fitness Specialist and 4) They have learned to READ LABELS!.

"Fitness Together has been an important part of our road back to good health and our new life style. Working with our trainers over the past five months has had a long lasting positive effect. The trainers have encouraged us continually and we are doing exercises that we never thought we would be able to do. They have a "yes, you can" approach to training. Not only has our strength and energy levels improved, our "Heart Health" has dramatically improved. This improvement has resulted in lower cholesterol levels and the elimination of blood pressure medication. We greatly appreciate the encouragement and support that Wendy, Alvin, Andrea, and Sam have given us and are looking forward to their continued support as we persevere, because we can't do it without you.

March 2009 Client of Month

 A.G. joined us in September of 2008. She was ready to live life to it's fullest and not let those feelings of being tired hold her back from enjoying life to its fullest any longer. A.G specifically wanted to increase her stamina, energy and strength. She felt that the best way to meet her goals was to join Fitness Together and begin a customized one-on-one approach.

"As you know, I could barely do 4 push ups when I started at Fitness together. My upper body strength was dismal and I became easily out of breath when doing any kind of cardio workout. However, after working out with your great trainers, specifically Sean, Alvin and Andrea, I've made remarkable improvements in my strength and stamina and am delighted to report that I rode my motorcycle from Daytona, FL to Northern Virginia (in 2 days) without feeling tired! I've honestly never enjoyed working out, but your wonderful trainers make it enjoyable and I now look forward to my workout sessions. Fitness Together has been one of the best investments I've made in my life, literally. By the way, it doesn't hurt that I can now fit into a size 2!!"

I want to thank you and the FT trainers for the honor of being nominated client of the month. I'm truly enjoying the program and look forward to continuing. As a project manager, I often work more than 60 hours per week and travel frequently. At first, I was concerned about being able to make a consistent commitment to exercise. However, I've found that having a scheduled appointment definitely helps me keep the commitment, and taking an hour or more to exercise provides increased focus and additional energy which allows me to work more effectively for longer periods of time. I admit that at the outset I felt somewhat guilty about putting my commitment to exercise ahead of my family and my job, but now that I see the benefits of that shift in priority, I know it was the right decision.

The Fitness Together trainers are professional and enjoyable to work with. They each have their own style and approach to fitness which helps to avoid the monotony which often accompanies exercise routines. Due to their knowledge, training and experience they understand and have respect for prior injuries, and the resulting limitations which may exist. As such, they are able to suggest alternate, but just as effective, exercises to work around an existing condition or limitation. I have found their exercise programs very effective; after only a couple of weeks I felt much stronger, and noticed significant improvement in stability and endurance.

Kelly makes the extra effort to arrive 30 minutes prior to her session to get some extra cardio time in and then does her cardio again at night at least 3 nights per week. She was so determined to get her cardio in that one night she did the treadmill in the dark with a flashlight so as not to wake up the hubby. Now that is dedication!
